Technical Project Manager required for a global engineering product manufacturer. We are seeking an experienced Project Manager who can manage multiple engineering projects within new product development.

This is a key role within the new product development team and support the new Product Development Director to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget. It is critical that we appoint a Project Manager who has exceptional communication skills and can manage people, just as well as you can manage the tasks involved within project management.

You core task will be to understand and challenge the projects currently ongoing, using Gannt Chart Project Management you will drive through each stage and take responsibility for on-time delivery of every stage.

Key responsibilities as technical project manager:

  • As Project Manager you will communicate the status of all new Industrial product launches.
  • For projects that are behind schedule, you will need to define and implement recovery plans.
  • Ensure processes are in place for NPI to deliver flawless launches into the business, to include:
    • Design development and design verification.
    • Tool try-outs.
    • Handover to global operations to ensure equipment and tooling installation is to plan.
    • Technical documentation for operations.
    • Ensure effective practices are in place to develop, implement and maintain product engineering documentation.
    • Ensure procedures are in place to own the technical aspects of new product launch, including but not limited to: drawings and specifications, design FMEAs
    • Optimise requirements for CapEx expenditures.
    • Ensure designs improve product manufacturability.

Essential skills required as technical project manager:

  • Proven project management experience, multi projects, using Gannt Chart Project Management within an engineering environment.
  • Experience of leading engineering, design and new production introduction teams.
  • Ideally experience from an SME environment.
  • Exceptional communication skills, especially managing upwards.
  • Ability to effectively influence and lead others to meet requirements, including on-time project completion.
  • Engineering qualifications would be a distinct advantageous.

This role is based in Leicester (LE3), easily commutable from Nottingham, Rugby, Coventry and Northampton.
