🌟 International Men’s Health Week: Breaking the Silence 🌟

As we come together to observe International Men’s Health Week, I wanted to have an open conversation about an important topic that often remains hidden in the shadows.

As a careers coach, I have the privilege of working with a diverse range of clients, and interestingly, around 60% of them are men. However, something that has caught my attention is that many of my male clients choose not to share their coaching experiences or provide testimonials. It’s almost as if there’s a reluctance to openly acknowledge their need for assistance.

I recently had a thought-provoking conversation with a close friend who expressed scepticism about the value of meeting with a coach. They believed they could navigate their career path independently by relying solely on conversations with people they knew. While I respect their self-reliant approach, it made me question whether they would truly be challenged and held accountable in such a situation.

Personal growth and professional development thrive in environments that encourage openness, vulnerability, and objective feedback.

Coaching provides a safe and confidential space for individuals to explore their aspirations, fears, and uncertainties. It offers a unique opportunity for self-reflection, accountability, and personal breakthroughs that might not occur organically through casual conversations alone.

So, I want to reach out to all of you in my network and start a conversation. If you have experienced the positive impact of coaching in your life and career, I encourage you to share your stories. Your first-hand accounts can help break the stigma surrounding men’s mental health and coaching support. Your words might just resonate with someone who is hesitant to take that first step towards seeking help.

And for those Ted Lasso fans reading, it is just what the Doc said to Ted, β€œThe truth will set you free, but first it will p*ss you off!”

Let’s create a space where we celebrate vulnerability and support one another in our pursuit of happiness, growth, and professional achievement. Together, we can shatter the barriers and build a community that embraces men’s mental health and well-being.
